About Brad & Lorna
Thank you for visiting! I'm Brad Sylvester, a proud retired U.S. Navy veteran. My wife, Lorna, and I are enjoying our retirement years here at the wonderful Arcadia Retirement Residence. We love the community, the weather, and being close to all the beauty Hawaii has to offer.
I spent most of my working years in the Navy — first on active duty, then in Civil Service. I’ve seen a lot of ships, bases, and oceans in my time, and I’m proud of the decades I gave to serving our country. The Navy taught me discipline, gave me purpose, and introduced me to some of the best people I’ve ever known. After retirement, I decided it was time to slow down a bit — and Arcadia has been the perfect place for that. These days, life is more about enjoying the little things: a quiet morning with coffee, a good book, or a classic movie. I’ve always been a fan of anything with a strong story. I enjoy shows like Blue Bloods, NCIS, and yes — I still think MASH* holds up. When it comes to books, I lean toward spy thrillers, and the occasional mystery novel. Authors like Tom Clancy, David Baldacci, James Patterson, and John Grisham are my favorites. But what really matters most to me is family. I was blessed to share many years with my wonderful wife, who brought love and laughter into my life every day. Through her, I gained two incredible stepdaughters who have been like daughters of my own — and now I get to enjoy the role of proud grandfather to their kids. Watching the grandkids grow up is one of life’s true joys. My wife Lorna is an active and cheerful member of the Arcadia community. She enjoys spending her days staying active and connected — whether it’s a lively game of bridge with friends, a good workout in the Wellness Center, or a relaxing swim in the heated pool. When it’s time to unwind, she loves watching movies and TV shows, sharing laughter and good company. One of Lorna’s greatest joys is spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. Whether it’s a visit filled with stories, laughter, or simply enjoying each other’s company, those moments with family mean the world to her and bring a special warmth to her life.
